Do you only buy popular name brand phones

Do you only buy popular name brand phones

Apple iPhone 6s

I’ve been going through a small personal crisis lately when it comes to buying smartphones. You see, since I’ve really started getting into phones, I’ve always been drawn towards the most popular brands. When Palm was cool, I went with Palm. When HTC was cool, I went with HTC. When I ventured into Windows Phone, I would only consider buying a Lumia. When Apple was cool (has it ever really been uncool?) I went with Apple. I went back to HTC when the company started making headlines again with the M7. Now I’m with Samsung using the Samsung Galaxy S7.

MESUIT case lets you run Android on the iPhone

MESUIT case lets you run Android on the iPhone

mesuit-android-e1469206312282

If youre a mobile user torn between using Android and iOS, you can now have the best of both worlds, thanks to a new case developed by a Chinese company that allows Android and iOS to run simultaneously on the iPhone.

iPhone vs Android

  • HTC 10 vs Apple iPhone 6s/Pl...
  • LG G5 vs iPhone 6S
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs iP...
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 vs iPhone ...
  • Why I Switched to iPhone
  • Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6s P...
This isnt the first attempt to make the iPhone run on Android. Just last month,  Tendigi developer Nick Lee built a custom case with an enclosed circuit board running an adapted version of Android Marshmallow, along with a custom-built app that allowed users to boot the iPhone in Android.

But Lee had no plans to commercialize his homebuilt case, while Chinese player Haimawan, which works with OS virtualization, is offering its new case, MESUIT, for sale exclusively in China.  Similar to Lees case, MESUIT allows a proprietary Android-based operating system, Mesuit OS 1.0, to run as an app within iOS on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus as well as the older 6 and 6 Plus.

The MESUIT case comes with a 1,700mAh external battery for the iPhone 6 and 6S and a 2,500mAh one for the 6 Plus and 6S Plus, along with 16GB of storage. It also holds a second Nano SIM slot compatible with Android use, but lacks an SD card, HDMI or full-size USB ports which were available in Lees rendition.

Haimawan is offering the MESUIT case on its subsidiary Jijias website for ¥999.00 (about $150) for the iPhone 6 and 6S, and ¥1099.00 (about $165) for the iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus. Right now, Haimawan hasnt said anything about making its MESUIT case available outside of China, but claims to be developing a case to allow iOS to run on Android devices that could be unveiled next year.

mesuit

Well, lets hope this brings peace between Android and iOS users and finally puts an end to the iPhone vs. Android debate. Would you use the MESUIT case to run Android on your iPhone? And would you want an Android case that let you run iOS? Let us know your views in the comments below!

Google is making it easier for emergency services to find you when you need them

Google is making it easier for emergency services to find you when you need them

Google is using your Android phone to make it easier for emergency services to find you when you need help. With support from mobile networks, the Emergency Location Service sends your location of your phone to emergency services when you call an emergency number.

From Google:

This feature, when supported by your network, sends location from your phone to emergency services when you dial an emergency number. This uses the same location technologies available to apps on your phone, including Wi-Fi, GPS, and cell towers, to produce a more reliable emergency location both indoors and outdoors.

Your location is only sent to emergency services, and is never seen by Google, nor sent through their servers. The Emergency Location Service will be available as a part of Google Play Services for phones running Android 2.3 Gingerbread or later, which Google says covers around 99% of Android phones.

Emergency Location Service is already live in the UK and Estonia through carriers like BT, EE, Vodafone, O2, Tele2, and Telia. Google is working with other countries and carriers in order to facilitate an faster international rollout of the feature.

Crowdfunding project of the week Modobag is a luggage bag you can ride!

Crowdfunding project of the week Modobag is a luggage bag you can ride!

modobag77565-7565_iuxto5

Its time for your featured crowdfunding project of the week! This is an article series in which we select the coolest crowdfunding campaigns from websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. We all know there are plenty of projects we would rather not waste our time with.

Other featured crowdfunding campaigns:

  • Omnicharge battery pack
  • Solos Smart Cycling Glasses
  • Basslet wearable subwoofer

I must say this weeks featured crowdfunding project is about the coolest we have seen in a very long time. The Modobag is a luggage bag you can ride! Literally – you can hop on it and take it for a spin through the airport.

The suit case has 2,000 cubic inches of interior storing capacity and measures 22 x 9 x 14 inches, which means it doesnt need to be checked in. Once everything is packed, its simple to pull out the handle bars and jump right on top of it to take a ride.

Maximum speed is set to 8 miles per hour and it has a range of 6 miles (based on a 180-pound user). It is all powered by a "belt-driven, maintenance-free, high-torque 150 watt electric motor".

modobag-2

By the way, its battery can charge your gadgets. The Modobag comes equipped with two USB charging ports than will keep all your devices powered up. And this is no dumb riding bag, either. It actually has smart features that work with the companys official app. This application helps you locate the bag using GPS. Its also possible to set up proximity alerts for when you forget your bag or go to far from it.

Pretty amazing, right? I know I want to get one for myself, but lets not get too excited just yet. This thing looks expensive… and it is. The lowest you can get it for on Indiegogo is $995. That money is well worth it for someone who travels often, though.

It has reached and far surpassed its goal, so theres no need to worry. Shipping is estimated to start this January (2017), so get ready to ride right into your flight!

Are you a caseaholic

Are you a caseaholic

Apple iPhone 6s case

Not too long ago, I wrote about how the accessories we invest in for our phones can sometimes hinder our decision to upgrade – particularly if youve spent a lot of money on accessories for one specific phone. In that same article I also wrote about how I wasnt particularly fond of my Galaxy S7, and hadnt invested in many accessories. Because of that, I felt like it wouldnt be too big of a deal to switch if I really wanted to.

Are you playing Pokémon GO

Are you playing Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO

As much time as I spend on the internet, I’ve seen plenty of Pokémon GO at this point. I’d say too much, but I honestly don’t mind seeing the crazy popular phenomenon keep expanding. I’ve played it a few times, but I ultimately removed it from my phone — but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate how happy it’s making millions of people out there. Which is awesome all by itself.

Are you already planning on buying Samsungs Galaxy Note 7

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

In August, right after the month starts, Samsung is hosting an event that everyone expect to see the Galaxy Note 7 unveiled. Yes, if you’ve been keeping tabs on the rumors, it’s believed that the manufacturer is going to actually skip the “6” brand for its phablet lineup, and go right to 7. Depending on what you read, the reasons for this range, to wanting to seem like a direct competitor to the oft-rumored iPhone 7 Plus, and to also not look directly inferior to the Galaxy 7 and Galaxy S7 edge that launched earlier this year.

Moto Z Droid or Moto Z Force Droid — which should you get

Moto Z Droid or Moto Z Force Droid — which should you get

Two phones, both alike in dignity. On fair Verizon, where we lay our scene ...

The Moto Z lands on Verizon on July 28. And if even if youve made up youre mind that youre going be diving into this modular menagerie, youve got a decision to make. Verizon, as its been prone to do with its Droid line of late, has two Moto Zs from which youll need to choose.

In many ways, theyre exactly alike. Same software. Mostly the same internals. And they both use the new Moto Mods accessories.

Lets take a look at the ways in which theyre different, though, and see if we cant figure out which one is for you.

Better battery capacity

Should you ever turn down the opportunity to have more battery? The Moto Z has a 2,600 mAh battery. The Moto Z Force has a 3,500 mAh battery — thats about a 34 percent increase. Along with that extra battery comes some extra thickness, however. The Moto Z is a svelte 5.19mm thick (or thin, I guess). The Moto Z Force is 6.99mm. Thats without the stock Style Shell back that comes in the box, however, so youll need to add a couple millimeters for those, too.

Ive used both phones. You should never pass up the opportunity for more battery out of the box.

Ive used both phones. And you should never pass up the opportunity for more battery out of the box. Even with external batteries and the 2,200 mAh Moto Mod Power Packs that are available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, that extra 34 percent can be the difference between having to top up toward the late afternoon, or not.

The extra thickness on the Moto Z Force means a few things. One is that I dont mind using it without a Style Shell as much. That doesnt mean I wont use it without one, but the option is at least more comfortable. The other is that its going to fit larger hands better than the Moto Z. Thats subjective, but not unimportant.

Higher-resolution camera

The Moto Z and Moto Z Force have similar cameras. Same camera app, same f/1.8 aperture. Theyre both pretty darn good in sunlight, and less so when it gets dark. Theyre both what Id call an above-average camera, though a few steps down from the best available.

The only real difference is that the Moto Z Force has a higher possible resolution — 21 megapixels — than the Moto Z, which is lower at 13MP. (One thing to keep in mind, however, is that both phones shoot at a wider, 16:9 aspect ratio by default, and dont use the full resolution until you change the setting to accommodate their native 4:3 aspect ratios.)

For my money, Id opt for the Moto Z Force because of its larger battery and better chance at surviving a fall.

For the most part this discrepancy hasnt really affected me any. At least not in the way I shoot and share photos. For things like Facebook and Instagram and your basic social sharing, either one has served me just fine. Its another differentiator for Verizon, I suppose. But merely adding more megapixels doesnt necessarily improve the finished product that much.

ShatterShield

If a bigger battery didnt do it for you, this one might. The Moto Z Force is the second phone to sport "ShatterShield." The short version is that means some extra protection for the display. So youll be able to drop it without the screen breaking into a million pieces.

That doesnt mean you might not kill the phone if it takes a bad fall. Heres the important part from Motos fine print:

The display and embedded lens are warranted against shattering and cracking for four (4) years from the original date of purchase; scratches or other damage to the protective lens is not covered by this warranty, but should always be in place to prevent scratches and other damage to the underlying components. This phone is not shockproof or designed to withstand all damage from dropping.

We dropped the Moto Z Force until it quit working. Actually, lets be more specific. The phone still works. The display, while showing signs of abuse, did not crack. It, uh, just doesnt actually show a picture anymore. So the first four times it took a bad spill ShatterShield worked as advertised. Thats a pretty good insurance policy.

The bottom line

So which phone should you get? The Moto Z, or the thicker, longer-lasting, better protected, higher-resolution Moto Z Force? For my money, Id opt for the latter. The upgraded camera sensor isnt that big a deal for me. But more battery and a better chance at surviving a fall?

Thats worth my money just about every time.

Do you run beta software on your daily driver

Do you run beta software on your daily driver

iOS 10 beta

New product announcements are typically always exciting. We get to see, usually once a year, what a new company has been working on since their last big release. Whether that’s hardware or software, the anticipation for what’s coming can be pretty strong, and so can the desire to want to use whatever that new thing is right now.

Waiting is never easy, but it only gets worse when it’s something you really want to use.

5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week! – Android Apps Weekly

5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week! – Android Apps Weekly

Welcome to the 150th edition of Android Apps Weekly! Just like last week, we have our news broken up between Pokemon Go and everything else. That way, you can skip the Pokemon Go news if youd like. Lets get started!

Pokemon Go news:

  • Razer has announced that theyre making a chat application specifically for Pokemon Go. The app, which will be called RazerGo, is a location-aware chat app that will be open to everyone who is in your general vicinity. The idea is to help Pokemon Go players chat it up when theyre near each other and talk about the game. It should be out before too long.
  • The first sponsored Pokestops were dropped this week. The winner of being able to say that they were first was McDonalds. The chain will have most of its 3000 locations in Japan become Pokestops and Gyms for players to flock to and enjoy. We dont know when it will roll out to other companies, but it should be soon.
  • A Redditor did a little research this week and showed that level scaling in Pokemon Go is absurdly high. Getting from level 30 to level 31 requires as much XP as going from level 1 to level 25. This has launched discussion about whether or not the game scales too aggressively and what Niantic can do about it. Well let you know how it turns out.
  • GameStop has reported that their sales have spiked 100% since the launch of Pokemon Go. Theyve been able to make their establishments Pokestops or Gyms and have been hosting family events. This has brought tons of people which has, in turn, caused sales to spike. Its a genius strategy, really, and GameStop is one of many companies to see sales go up thanks to Pokemon Go.
  • Its been estimated that Pokemon Go is currently making about $2 million per day. The AppInstitute website has a real-time tracker that shows you a rough estimate of what the game is making. It piles up wicked fast and the game seems to be making a ton of money right now.
  • Pokemon Go was actually supposed to release in France earlier this week. However, after the tragedy at Nice, Niantic decided to delay the release there for a little while to respect the events that occurred there. There is still going to be a French release, but its going to be a little bit longer. It did launch in Canada along with Japan and 26 European countries over the last week.
  • Sprint is jumping onto the Pokemon hype train by giving out a ton of free stuff. Each of their locations will become charging stations for players and they will also offer experts to help in certain locations along with Lures at locations that also have nearby Pokestops. This is after T-Mobile announced free data for a year for Pokemon Go players last week.

The rest of the headlines:

  • A while ago, it was announced that a conglomeration of Chinese investors wanted to buy Opera for $1.2 billion. However, this week it was announced that the deal has fallen through due to regulatory issues. Shortly thereafter, a new deal was announced. The new deal, which features all of the same players, is for $600 million for a controlling stake in Opera instead of for the whole company.
  • A court ruling this week has set a precedent that uploading videos of people in a bathroom stall to Snapchat without their consent is now a crime. This occurred after a high school student took video of another student in a bathroom stall and uploaded to his Snapchat. The other student later committed suicide because of the video. As a result, courts have ruled that such behavior is now illegal. Why this wasnt a law sooner is beyond me, but its official now.
  • Twitter is making verification a little bit easier for user accounts. The idea is to help people get verified accounts even if theyre not as popular. The process is actually very simple. Youll be asked to make some changes to your profile to accommodate the requirements. After that, youll need to submit some links to verify who you are and then submit the form. Twitter will reach out a few days later if youre verified.
  • Everyone is talking about a new photo app called Prisma this week. The app uses artificial intelligence to apply some truly unique filters to your photos. This gives them a unique look that you wont find with other apps. We have a hands-on video on our YouTube channel if you want to check it out. It was briefly available as an invite-only beta, but that has since closed down. Now were all waiting for the public release.

10 Useful Android Tips And Tricks You Should Know HongKiat

10 Useful Android Tips And Tricks You Should Know HongKiat

In this post, we are featuring 10 useful Android tips and tricks that may improve your experience while using your Android device. Do note that the steps may vary a little from one Android phone to another due to the differences in the build and the OS version, but if you play around with it, the next step isn’t too far off.
Android Tips and Tricks

1.Bugged by annoying app notifications that just keep coming?
If you don’t know already, these app notifications also drain your phone’s battery. If you want to turn them off, and you are on Jelly Bean 4.1 and above, here’s how:

On any of your unwanted notifications in your notification bar, long press on the notification for a message box to appear.
Tap on App Info > Untick Show Notifications > OK.

2. Disable Mobile Data
Whenever you don’t need to stay connected, disabling the Mobile Data can help keep your smartphone battery from draining too quickly. Turning off mobile data is as easy as:

Going to Settings > Data Usage.
Disable Mobile data by toggling the setting from ON to OFF.

3. Set Mobile Data Limit
Want to keep track of how far your usage is from your monthly mobile data limit? If you have ICS and above, there is a feature which lets you keep track of how much of the quota you have left.

Head over to Settings > Data Usage.
Set your data limit by dragging the orange line to reflect your monthly quota.
Set your data usage cycle based on when your "month" starts and ends, and you’re done.
You will be alerted once you hit the limit you have set. Note that the tracked data usage of your phone may vary slightly than your carrier’s tracking.

4. Add Multiple Google Accounts
You need a Google account to use an Android phone but did you know you can choose to run more than one Google account on your Android device. This is convenient if you use more than one account for several of your Google services. To add multiple Google accounts:

Go to Settings > Add account.
Select Google and setup your New or Existing Google account.
Once added, choose what you want to sync with the account.
Repeat all the steps above if you want to add more accounts.

5. Disable Automatic App Updates
Prefer to read through app permissions and manually pick which app updates to adopt? You can, but first you need to disable your automatic app updates. Here are the steps:

Open Play Store and head over to Settings.
Tap on Auto-update apps.
Choose Do not auto-update apps.
If you want to enable the auto updates, follow the same path and choose Auto-update apps at any time or via Wi-Fi (available for certain Android devices only).

To update your apps manually, just open Play Store, and on the main page swipe in from the left and tap on My apps. You can tap on apps with pending updates and update them manually, or if you like to update them all at once, just tap on Update All.

6. How To Check For Android System Updates
For Android users that are using stock ROM, you may want to look for new updates to your system. To check for updates:

Go to Settings > About phone/tablet.
Tap on System updates.
Tap Check now to look for system updates.

7. Changing Default Apps
If you have already set some default apps for particular tasks (e.g. using Chrome for opening web links) but wish to change this:

Go to Settings > Apps.
Swipe right and look for the All tab.
Select the app you want to remove as default.
Tap on Clear defaults.

8. Organize Homescreen Shortcuts With Folders
Once you have a lot of apps installed, your homescreen might be filled with app shortcuts. Unlike the app drawer, the apps on your home screen are not arranged alphabetically. So, you might want to create some folders for your homescreen shortcuts.

Assuming you have more than a handful of shortcuts already on your homescreen, long press on any of the shortcuts and drag it onto another shortcut.
A circle should now appear around the apps, indicating that a folder has been created.
By tapping on the newly created folder, a mini window will pop up with your apps in it.
You can drag and drop additional apps into the folder if you like. You can also rename the folder by tapping on the text area at the bottom of the mini window.

9. Disable Animations
Here’s a tip on how to make your Android device run a bit smoother: disable its animations. You will need to have access to Developer Options which can be found under Settings or About device.

Note: For some phones, you may need to go to Build number and tap on it repeatedly until you see "You are now a developer!". Developer options are now enabled.

Under enabled Developer options, look for Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale. Then, turn them off (disable) them one at a time.

10. How To Turn Off Auto-Correction
Hate the fact that your phone is going English teacher mode on you? Turn off auto-correction for peace of mind when texting.

Go to Settings > Language & input.
Tap on the settings icon next to the keyboard that you are using, e.g. Google Keyboard.
Look for Auto-correction and tap on it.
Select Off to turn auto-correction off.

How many cloud storage services do you use

Microsoft OneDrive

Thanks to family, I take a lot of photos and video. My smartphone has become my camera of choice these days, and has been for several years now, and with that I’ve gradually focused on buying devices that have more built-in storage. I’ve shied away from microSD cards over the years, as I’ve just kept what I can on my device of choice, and putting the rest up in the cloud.

Do you Know how to Make Money Online Through Internet Marketing

Do you Know how to Make Money Online Through Internet Marketing

Approximately 2 billion people in the world consistently use the Internet, and that number continues to grow. For many, the Internet is an indispensable part of everyday life, whether its finding information or connecting with friends or networking with associates. When you think of the boundless possibilities, learning how to make money online through Internet marketing makes a lot of sense.
make money by marketing online

                                                                             Steps
1.Determine your abilities and knowledge.
Most importantly, what do you enjoy doing, and is earning money online a possibility?
Sure, starting from scratch is a possibility, but you may be making money online through Internet advertising sooner if you know your product.
The work can feel less like work when you enjoy what youre doing.
Additionally, when you adore what youre doing,  youre better equipped to impart your energy through web promoting.

2.Market online through a well designed website.

Todays sites depends on search engine optimization (SEO) for high rankings in web search engines.

For example, if someone searches "beaded earrings" on Google, they will begin at the top of the list and work their way down.

3.Use social networking sites to market online.

Social networking sites can send a lot of traffic to your website.
Join and contribute to discussions that relate to your item.
Social networking can also boost your rankings on web search engines if your item or business appears often enough.
Social networking sites such as Reddit and Digg depend on sharing content that is voted on by users.
Utilize  your website URL in your signature.

4.Ask website visitors to take action.
You cant stop online advertising once a visitor clicks to your site. You must make information and ordering information easy to find.
Tell visitors what you want to do.

5.Take care of your customers.
Good customer relations is your greatest marketing tool because it translates into free word-of-mouth (or word-of-keyboard) advertising.

  • Respond promptly to orders, questions, and problems.
  • Money making is impossible without satisfied customers.

6.Keep your website upto dated and relevant.
You lose credibility if your web site hasnt been updated in a while. No one is going to take a web site seriously that talked about a past event or that refers to after-Christmas sales in June.
