Saludos Malignos!

Another Galaxy Note 7 leak iris scanner setup S Pen and edge features

Another Galaxy Note 7 leak iris scanner setup S Pen and edge features

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 iris scanner registration

Sir Hydarnes is at it again. After leaking us the Galaxy Note 7 wallpapers yesterday, today weve been gifted screenshots from the Note 7s Grace UX interface, most interestingly those relating to the iris scanner and S Pen Air Command menu.

In the lock screen and security settings you can see there is a new option below Fingerprints called Irises. The disclaimer runs through the limitations of the iris unlock feature which is dishearteningly long. Especially if you were hoping to able to use it while wearing spectacles or contacts, in low light conditions or if you dont want to lift your phone level with your head(?).

But, as we saw in the leaked video a while back, in the right conditions, the Note 7 iris scanner is very fast indeed. To set it up, all you need to do is position the phone 25-30 cms from your face with your eyes in the on-screen circles and let the front-facing scanner register your iris.

Other screenshots show the S Pen Air Command menu, including familiar options like Screen Write, S Note, Smart Select and Action Memo, but theres also a new option: Glance. You can also record sections of the screen and create GIFs on the fly.

Finally, we get a look at the app drawer, which thankfully has the option to arrange your apps alphabetically by default. We also get a look at various new app icons and stock app interfaces like the clock, messages, music player, calendar and dialer. And theres a few generic looks at the Galaxy Note 7 edge features.

Note: the teaser image at the top of this article is simply the screenshot of the iris recognition setup displayed on a Galaxy S7 Edge. It is not the Note 7, so theres no need to point that out, unless you really, really want to.

What do you think of the Note 7 UI? Is the iris scanner something youd use?

Thank you once again Sir Hydarnes!

HTC Nexus Sailfish leak reveals 1080p display MSM8996 chipset

HTC Nexus Sailfish leak reveals 1080p display MSM8996 chipset

HTC 10 Nexus 6P 2

Twitter leaker Evan Blass is apparently in possession of a ROM dump from one of the upcoming 2017 Nexus phones. The smaller of the two rumored devices, internally known as Sailfish or the HTC S1, has just had its build.prop file shared on Twitter, uncovering a couple of device specs including display resolution and the chipset to be used.

Keep in mind that build.prop files are incredibly easy to modify, so even though theres no reason for Blass to fake it, the details cant exactly be guaranteed to be accurate. That said, the display density value is given as 420, indicating Full HD resolution rather than QHD (as the larger-screened Marlin – or HTC M1 – is rumored to feature).

This calculation is reverse engineered from the pixel density not being high enough to represent QHD. If you plug it into a pixel density calculator at Full HD resolution you get close enough to 420 PPI on a 5.2-5.3-inch screen. As you likely recall, the Sailfish is rumored to arrive with a 5.2-inch screen (with the Marlin arriving with a 5.5-inch QHD display). So at least the math fits.

The chipset in the build.prop file is listed as the MSM8996, which currently refers to the Snapdragon 820. However, we cant guarantee it is not the Snapdragon 821 as Qualcomm SoCs have shared model numbers in the past, with MSM8997 referring to multiple versions of both the Snapdragon 800 and 801.

Theres not much else of interest in the build.prop file other than security patch date on the first line and multiple mentions of finger and thumb prints scattered throughout. But if Blass has a full ROM dump you can expect to see more information coming soon, including further details on the possibility of Allo and Duo APKs (although wed need Googles servers running to make them work) and some more information on Androids new navigation buttons.

Will you be opting for Sailfish or Marlin? Is Full HD resolution still acceptable?
